Poker Variation- Double Down Stud
As one of the most celebrated games in the world, poker has branched off several variations. One of them is double down stud poker. The game is built on the foundations of draw poker. While the latter provides the participants a great advantage by making them draw new cards in lieu of useless ones, double down stud poker gives them the chance to decide whether or not to double their wager based on the initial cards they will receive.
The game commences upon the placing of wagers of up to five coins. The video poker machine will then deal five up cards. The first four cards are turned over. Based on those cards you will now decide whether to double your wager is a wise option. In case you decide to push ahead and double, you need to make sure you still have enough credits for it. If you are short on credits you obviously need to put in some more coins.
In double down stud poker you cannot draw a card which is a rather disadvantageous rule. In draw poker you can discard your useless cards and draw new ones in the hope that they will be better and will provide you with a greater edge. In double down stud poker, you can't which makes it harder to obtain paying hands. The upside it that the pay table is rather better compared to draw video poker.
If you get two sixes through a pair of tens the payoff is one coin. Two jacks will give you two coins while two pairs of it will gain you one more coin. Three-of-a-kind pays four coins, a straight pay six, a flush pays nine, a full house pays twelve, four-of-a-kind pays fifty, a straight flush pays two hundred and a royal flush pays a thousand coins. Those mentioned as bets of one coin. You will get more if you bet even higher. You can get as much as twenty-thousand coins for the maximum bet of five coins and double it down, if you get a royal flush.
The rewards of playing double down stud can be exceptional if you know some strategies on playing well. The basic goal in double down stud is to know when it is best to double down. If in video poker strategies focus on the useless cards to throw away, in double down the crucial element is recognizing a great opportunity to double your wager once the chance presents itself.
